ABOUT McClyment

As a kid, David McClyment kept himself amused by drawing monsters, explosions and all kinds of adventures. Not much has changed.  He has been drawing for over 70 years now and over 45 years as an exhibiting artist. In that time he has had over 45 solo shows and participated in an equal number of group exkhibitions.

His work has been shown in all kinds of venues, including artist-run centres, public galleries, commercial galleries and pop up spaces. Mostly in Toronto, but also around Ontario and in Europe.

McClyment had  been represented by the David Kaye Gallery in Toronto’s West Queen West district until the gallery closed in 2018. McClyment has been a proud member of the Red Head Gallery since 2021.

In addition to his creative career, McClyment has mentored hundreds of emerging artists as they begin their creative journey. As professor and Co-ordinator of the Fine Arts Studio program at Centennial College he was honoured with a number of awards for teaching excellence.

He is daily inspired by his long-time reason for living, Sue Bracken, and their eminently talented son, Jaimie.
